My daughter gave birth to a baby boy. The joy was indescribable. But that joy quickly turned into responsibility: her job is demanding and serious, and she simply didn’t have time for proper maternity leave. Of course, I couldn’t leave the baby alone – I gladly took everything upon myself. Every day, right at 8 AM, I went to my daughter’s house and stayed until 6 PM. I bathed, fed, rocked, washed clothes, ironed, and took the baby for walks. But everything changed in an instant. One day, tired after a walk, I opened the fridge to grab a bite – just some cheese and an apple. Suddenly, I heard my daughter say: — Don’t touch anything in the fridge. We buy that food with our own money. I was shocked. — But… I’m here all day, every day. What am I supposed to eat? — Buy your own food and bring it with you. This is not a café, – she replied coldly and walked away. That’s when I realized I had raised an ungrateful daughter and decided to teach her a lesson. I DECIDED TO VISIT MY NEIGHBOR FOR HER 90TH BIRTHDAY, BUT WHAT I DISCOVERED WHEN I WENT INTO HER HOME DEEPLY MOVED ME. A week ago, she celebrated her 90th birthday. Although we were not particularly close, we shared moments of conviviality from time to time. We often chatted about various topics, and sometimes, she told me fascinating stories from her life. During one of our conversations, she had mentioned that her birthday was coming up. She lived alone, her husband having long since passed away, and her children living in other cities. Hearing about her birthday, it was clear that she was not planning a big celebration. Despite this, I decided to visit her, thinking that a small gesture from me could brighten her day. I wanted to bring her a cake and share a nice moment with her, while waiting for her children to have the opportunity to see her, they who visited so rarely. I am 70 years old. Recently, while I was at the beach, I noticed a woman my age wearing a very revealing swimsuit. Intrigued, I decided to approach her and share my opinion: at our age, perhaps it would be more appropriate to choose a more discreet outfit. This woman, probably around 70 years old, walked along the shoreline with remarkable confidence, indifferent to the gazes around her. She seemed to fully enjoy the moment, embracing her body without hesitation. This sense of freedom made me reflect. Was I the one placing too much importance on what is considered appropriate for our generation? I must admit that her confidence impressed me, but one question lingered in my mind: as we age, shouldn’t we adopt a more modest style? I do not question the importance of self-confidence. I, too, feel young at heart, take care of myself, and enjoy life. But this woman made me wonder: does aging also call for a certain restraint in how we dress? So, I approached her to share my thoughts. I gently suggested that a more covering swimsuit might be a more elegant choice, in line with our age.
